John Lachs is Centennial Professor of Philosophy at Vanderbilt University. I enjoy "Giants of Philosphy". Other voices are good, but not always up to Hestons standard Per. A recipient of the Herbert Schneider Award for Lifetime Contributions to American Philosophy, he is the author of Intermediate Man, In Love with Life, Mind and Philosophers, and A Community of Individuals, among others. They are made for audio and gives a good and easy understandable overview of the philosophy with repeateably short summaries of past tekst. And Heston is superb altough a bit too fast sometimes.

Thomas Aquinas was a 13th Century Italian Priest, theologian and philosopher, whose writing shaped the basis for modern Catholic thought. Aquinas was the most important philosopher of the medieval period, with influence on epistemology, metaphysics, ethics and political philosophy well into the modern period of history. While the theologians before him were heavily influenced by the works of Plato, Aquinas preferred Aristotle, and his more scientific outlook, to Plato’s mystic ideas about reality

St. Thomas Aquinas is known for producing history’s most complete system of Christian philosophy. In the late 13th century, this quiet, reflective Dominican scholar combined the work of Aristotle with Christian, Jewish, Muslim, and pagan thought to reconcile reason and faith. For Thomas, intellectual knowledge is a sign of the spirituality that energizes the human center. He believed we can know that God exists, but not what god is like. Thomas's masterpiece, the Summa Theologiae, contains over 10,000 objections and replies to fundamental questions about God and the world. It includes Thomas's famous "five ways" to prove God's existence, which are (1) the unmoved mover, (2) the uncaused cause, (3) the necessary being, (4) the perfect Goodness, and (5) the guiding intelligence. His thought continues to influence Catholic philosophy today.
