Don Winslow's Power of the Dog is a masterpiece of crime fiction - a thoroughly engrossing . After thoroughly enjoying the first Neal Carey book, I quickly moved on to the next. I still enjoyed the main characters, but found the supporting characters less interesting than the previous book.
Don Winslow's Power of the Dog is a masterpiece of crime fiction - a thoroughly engrossing tale of brutality and betrayal against Mexican drug cartels and naive Californians. Savages continues in this vein. He has gone on to write on a number of diverse subjects (Californian fires, surfing, etc and then there's the Neal Carey series. I enjoyed the historical and political context of the plot, as I am not very familiar with Chinese history.
