Jane Kirkpatrick is an Oregon writer who has written many inspirational fiction and non-fiction books. Jane Kirkpatrick attended University of Wisconsin–Milwaukee, where she initially majored in English before switching to social work, eventually earning a master's degree. She went on to work in this field for three decades. When visiting Oregon while looking for a job, she fell in love with the area and moved to Bend in 1974.
Twenty-four are featured in a slightly different way from the usual architectural format, here there are many close-ups of sections of a house to reveal interior space, structural aspects, material, glass and lighting. Kirkpatrick says in his Preface that, since 1988, he has designed hundreds of California buildings, this work book reveals how his interesting ideas turn into unique wonderful homes. His novel, The Woman in the Window, which was published under a lightly worn pseudonym, A. Finn, was the hit psychological thriller of the past year. Like Gone Girl, by Gillian Flynn (2012), and The Girl on the Train, by Paula Hawkins (2015), each of which has sold millions of copies, Mallory’s novel, published in January, 2018, features an unreliable first-person female narrator, an apparent murder, and a possible psychopath. Mallory sold the novel in a two-book, two-million-dollar deal.

Contemporary American literature is subversive. Primarily postmodernist, these works are inherently distrustful. They not only question cultural inconsistencies, they allow such inconsistencies to naturally unfold within the narrative. As a result, contemporary American literature, arguably continues the pattern of highly-politicized fiction popularised in the 18th and 19th century, along with the thought-provoking philosophical questions of 20th century Modernist movement.
