I am so glad I got to Reorder this book. Back in 1999 my mom got me this book as a birthday Gift and in 2001 it got Destroyed in a flood. I am so glad I found another copy on Amazon

This is a wonderful Book and informive on all breeds. Even Breeds that aren't even in this Country

This book is a quick guide to all the dog breeds in the world. My husband and I refer to it frequently; for example, if we see a breed we're unfamiliar with we'll look it up in this book. Or if we meet a dog that is behaving in a certain way, we go to this book to learn what the typical behavior for that breed is. The photographs are straightforward and not overly styled. Yet the photographs are so professional that you really don't need a different book that may have lot's of "beauty" shots in it. I would recommend this book to anyone who loves dogs in general, and who is interested in learning a little bit about all the specific breeds.

The last comment I'd like to add is that this book is really quite beautiful for a reference book. It's worth the price, and if you are a dog lover it will be in your library forever.

One of the best canine reference books I have ever read. The photography is beautiful and unlike many such books, we are treated to photos of both adult and puppy of the breed. Book also contains an excellent health section on the anatomy of the dog and provides an outstanding aid in making preliminary home diagnoses which provide useful information for the vet. Photos also show the dogs in various habitats. Book is a delight for dog lovers of all ages. I purchased the book for my wife who is trying to decide on the best choice for her next dog and our granddaughters love it as well. We usually wind up getting mutts, and most often from the ASPCA, but this book tells us what characteristics we can expect in mixed breeds. Outstanding book.

Beautiful, clean book

There are so many books like this. I really like this one more than many others I have purchased. Lots of good pictures, goes way beyond the usual basic information. And bonus: so many breeds I'd never even seen pictures of or heard of before, that was fun.

I'm really happy with this book. It did take a little bit longer than anticipated to arrive, but I failed to notice that it was coming from England... so over all no complaints.

Another great resource, not as in-depth as the World Atlas of Dog Breeds by Dominique DeVito, but one to have available in your library for some really great looking photographs of breeds.

This is a great book for a new dog owner or for those who are considering a particular breed of dog. The book reviews 350 different breeds. The breeds are presented in brief articles with pictures. Once you have found a breed your interested in it would then be best to seek more detailed information online or from a breed book . I am sure that this was the intent of the author.
