There seemed to be three acts within the Meiji period (1868 - 1912), with more than a few situations & events that (to this reader) parallel the current plight of left-leaning Christians in the west (namely America). I really appreciated the fact-based, free of bias presentation, as this could have been a heavy-handed toward any one of a few factions (the tossed-aside samurai, the "new guard A historical document of a specific period of time.
