It should take the place of the fire pistol from the previous mission, and is used to shoot the cheapskate that was just brought out into the firing range. The cheapskate is protected by a shield, which is vulnerable to shock damage, and therefore serves as a lesson in using shock to overcome shield charge.

The idea for the symposium was conceived by the participants of a rock art recording expedition to Big Bend Ranch State Park in 1993, sponsored by the TPWD and organized and led by J. David Ing, the Regional Cultural Resource Coordinator.
