This fourth edition, revised in 2006, is a combination textbook and self-assessment tool on career exploration, decision making and personal assessment. It has exercises threaded throughout to help you determine your motivations, skills, and personality type. Part II covers career exploration discussing resources available for the job search, networking, goal setting, the job campaign, resumes and cover letters, interviewing and developing jobs leads. Many, many topics are covered. It is like a text for a class on career development.

The issue is much has changed since 2006 in the career field like the ascendance of Facebook and LinkedIn. The author has published a 5th edition and it might be worth paying the extra amount for the updated information. This is a survey of the some of the career elements and has useful information. It seems like the target audience is a college student or recent grad.

This is a great book. Even after you take the class, I recommend you keep the book. There are a lot of things in this book on finding a job, interviewing, resume writing, etc., that can help you in the future.
