Indoor hockey, is an indoor variant of outdoor "field" hockey. It is not to be confused with floorball and indoor roller hockey variants such as rink hockey or inline hockey. It is traditionally and mainly played as a pastime by outdoor field hockey players during the off-season or when conditions are unsuitable for outdoor play. In most of the world, the term hockey by itself refers to field hockey, while in Canada, the United States, Finland, Sweden, Latvia, the Czech Republic and Slovakia, the term usually refers to ice hockey.
