Paul Galdone was born in Budapest, Hungary in 1907 and emigrated to the United States in 1928. Before his death in 1986, Mr. Galdone illustrated almost three hundred books, many of which he himself wrote or retold.

The Three Sillies book. T I've always liked this story, and Galdone's fun illustrations certainly do it justice. The part where the young gentleman comes upon the villagers who are attempting to fish the moon out of the pond (they are seeing its reflection, and think it has fallen from the sky) only to be chased away by a mob bearing pitchforks certainly strikes a chord in today's e-facts political climate. Some folks will do anything rather than see reason.
