The setting, the early 1880s; the place, near the eastern borders of Washington Territory and Oregon State. Not exactly an easy place or time to be a widow, but that's just what Linnie Bingham is. This was the first book that I've read by this author and I truly enjoyed every word. So descriptive and interesting. I look forward to reading more of her books and love the spiritual tones and inspiration. Great Christian authors are hard to find and this author is exceptional.

I think if people are going to write books, they should first learn the English language, including correct grammar and punctuation. I feel no matter how good a book might be, if it is full of typos, it's annoying and distracting to read. If the author can'r figure it out, get an editor! For example, when referring to Mr. and Mrs. Miller, the name is the "Millers." There is NO apostrophe! An apostrophe signals possession NOT plurality. And the mood is "lighter" not "more lighter. As to the plot itself, it was not that bad.

Then one day a special someone came traveling through their community, not in any hurry to move on. Then there was the May Day dance that the community enjoyed every year. That's when Mr Hansen and Linnie danced the night away. David, known as Mr Hansen, kept himself busy doing odd jobs for community members, and became known to everyone. While reroofing Linnie's house, after putting the finishing touches to the job, was gathering his materials to climb down the ladder before the cloud burst came, missed his footing and fell off the roof. David lay in the rain until Rachel and Billy came to Linnies to feed the animals, and found the lifeless form in the grass. Rachel remained with David, and told Billy to go to their father, Rev. Byrne's for help. Meantime, Maggie summoned Linnie to come home from visiting with her sister Elizabeth. When David and Linnie met at the fishing spot, they shared their mutual feelings. This is a must read to find out what happens.

I really do not normally enjoy historical fiction (or nonfiction) - but this book grabs me and draws me in until I can't set it down! I really love the Christian theme throughout. I love being able to recommend a Christian author. I'll be re-reading this one!
