He related the promulgation of the Family Law under the topic of women’s rights, flattering the regime’s policies and actions towards women. Catherine Besteman however, in her book Unravelling Somalia: Race, Violence and the Legacy of Slavery, did provide a chapter on violence and the state. Nonetheless, she did not mention the violence committed by the state in the name of gender equality in 1975.
