If it hadn't been for the Babysitters Club, my life would sure be different.

BSC035 - Stacey and the Mystery of Stoneybrook - Martin, Ann M. Chapter 1. As the train started up, I sat back in my seat, leaned my head against the window, and smiled to myself. On the surface it might seem as if I, eighth-grader Stacey McGill, had the perfect life. Most of the time I live in lovely old Stoneybrook, Connecticut. If it hadn't been for the Babysitters Club, my life would sure be different. The BSC was all Kristy's idea. That's Kristy Thomas, president of the club. I think she's read Misty of Chincoteague something like seventy-six times! Mal's main problem is being eleven.

To a New York City girl like Stacey, the fact that an old-supposedly haunted-house in Stoneybrook is being torn down is no big deal. But then her friend Kristy discovers the house was built on a graveyard, and when Stacey sees a horrible face in one of the windows, she wonders if the house really could be haunted! In this series.

so. what the fuck? was stacey actually having a paranormal experience? was claudia, when she felt the hand on her arm? i think i read somewhere that this book inspired ann m. martin to launch the babysitters club mystery series. this is not a good inspiration because this book kind of blows. i guess it beats mallory & the ghost cat, but just barely.

I go to a great school, have tons of friends, and belong to the best club in the world - but more about that later. Every now and then, though - pretty much whenever I feel like it - I get to go on a Fun-Filled Action-Packed All-Expenses-Paid Weekend in the Glamorous Big Apple, New York City! as they say on the game shows.

Stacey and the Mystery of Stoneybrook is the 35th book in the original series of The Baby-Sitters Club series by Ann M. Martin. Unlike Claudia and Dawn, Stacey's never been much for mysteries and ghost stories. But when she and Charlotte Johanssen hear terrible noises coming out of the old Hennessey place, Stacey thinks the Baby-sitters definitely have a mystery on their hands. Mallory claims the house once made her have a horrible nightmare. And Kristy discovers that it was built on top of a graveyard!
