This book examines the causes and consequences of the explosion at the nuclear power plant at Chernobyl in April 1986, when vast areas of Europe were contaminated by radioactive fallout. The book looks at the events which led up to the accident, its long-term effects and the lessons for the future of the nuclear power industry.
