Boden was educated at the City of London School for Girls in the late 1940s and 1950s.

She has written extensively on the subject, most recently the two-volume work Mind as Machine: A History of Cognitive Science (2006). She has lectured widely, to both specialist and general audiences across the world, and has appeared on many radio and TV programs, in the UK and elsewhere.

Artificial Intelligence. Artificial Intelligence is the study of how to build or program computers to enable them to do what minds can do. This volume discusses the ways in which computational ideas and computer modeling can aid our understanding of human and animal minds. Major theoretical approaches are outlined, as well as some promising recent developments.
