It is thorough on safety, which is very important when teaching beginners, and contains solid and well thought through experiments. A question-part for every experiment ensures an aditional element of kognition that enhances learning. Being well written and safe, it lacks the spectackularity that would make it a great book for making new people interested in chemistry. No bombs, no flashing lights

I do not like chemistry but had to take this course for a college level course.

The reason why I am giving this book five stars is because it helps the reader to develop an awareness of our planet, our resources and our environment while teaching the reader about the basics of chemistry. I cannot recall as I no longer own this book but in many if not all of the chapters the reader is educated on our dwindling resources and ideas are presented to help the student become more informed to conserve our planet's resources. Ideas are suggested to the reader on how to respect our planet more.

Aside from what was mentioned the chemistry lessons themselves were adequate and reasonably easy to understand. But I am weak in this area so I am not an expert on the matter.

This book should be the "real" Chemistry Book for Dummies. All the examples are practical, everything is well (and slowoy) explained. A wonderful book that makes you love chemistry, and also help you to grasp all the important concepts, however hard tehey may be

I bought this book 20 years ago and I loved it then. I just recently bought it again for my son who is about to go to college and major in Chemistry. This book is a mix of technical stuff and everyday stuff and is a fun read for everyone that is science-minded.

This textbook requires no background other than the English language. It could be used by a bright 6th grader, a high school student, a college student or an interested adult. The book is very well written and adequately illustrated. There is also a lab manual available.

This text is easily readable and interesting complete chemistry text that is not watered-down or oversimplified. I steered away from text books that were visually too busy. Mostly I wanted the facts in an interesting context. This book shows that chemistry is fun stuff to read about. I am using it with my son who is homeschooled.
