Roeder and the first of a new series set in Bloomington, Indiana. Mark writes his novels in his apartment near Indiana University in Bloomington and in his log cabin located some two hours west.

Preve

One of the pleasure of reading is spending time with characters and places that you love. I've always felt this and it leads me to re-read most of my favorites over and over.

This is my first time through this particular story and yet I felt like I knew the characters as soon as I met them and I enjoyed spending time with them. I've read almost all of this author's works and most of them repeatedly because of that "welcome home" feeling. Having grown up in Michigan I identify with the midwestern settings. Having grown up gay I identify with the characters' struggles. The author has gotten progressively better and this work, being in a slightly new setting with no repeat characters gave him a good clean start and the improvement shows. I look forward to his next book and will most likely revist this one again.

Probably best book I've the 5 books I've read of Mr. Roeder's (so far!). I wasn't sure what to think when I was browsing and saw the book cover, hence my review title. It's fun to set yourself in another time and almost be with that person. Very touching ending and a surprise!

A really great story, told in two different time frames. You will love Tyler , Percy, and all the other characters, a couple you won't like but that's part of a good story. Also a great ending, or maybe a sequel ? We can only hope.
I have read all of previous series, The gay youth chronicles, if you haven't read these do so , you will enjoy every one of them.

I'm addicted to all of Mark Roeder's books. His writing is fantastic, and once I pick up any of his books I can't stop reading them. I'm only getting 5 hours of sleep per night because of it. I've now spent hundreds of dollars just to get the next book in his stories... I can't get enough. This was a really good book

I'm not usually much into books like this but something said to me to read it. I liked it so much. I related to the character's even if I am older than they are. It's an awesome story and I liked the writing. I am going to recommend it to a friend tomorrow. Thank you.

Marvelous. Humor, tragedy, sadness, triumph. A great read! I found the situations credible, the characters well drawn, this may as well have been a non-fiction work as it was handled so well. Bravo!

NUMBER 24 AND GOING STRONG. I HAVE READ EVERY ONE OF MARK'S BOOKS AND ENJOYED MOST ENOUGH TO GIVE THEM FIVE STARS. ATTITUDES HAVE CHANGE SOMEWHAT IN THE 16 YEARS SINCE ANCIENT PREJUDICE BUT THERE IS STILL A LONG WAY TO GO BEFORE LGBT YOUNGSTERS ARE REGARDED AS ORDINARY.

A nice departure from Mark's Youth Chronicle Series. We are introduced to all new characters & settings. I like the way Mark ran two stories, 20 years apart, side by side. in they end they converge to a very stisfying ending. Nice surprise. One of Mark's best works to date.
