Publisher : VSP International Science Publishers . On the occassion of the 75th birthday of Jonas Kubilius - one of the outstanding mathematicians of the 20th century - the Second International Conference "Analytic and Probabilistic Methods in Number Theory" was organized in September 1996. This proceedings volume contains most of the 46 talks by distinguished mathematicians from a variety of countries. The papers cover a broad range of topics within the contemporary theory of numbers, with special emphasis on its analytic and probabilistic branches. Users who liked this book, also liked.

Jonas Kubilius is regarded as one of the outstanding mathematicians of this century. His research gave a new perspective on the relationship between number theory, analysis and probability theory. In honour of his 70th birthday, a conference was held at Palanga, Lithuania. This proceedings volume contains original papers focusing on probabilistic number theory, especially distribution laws for arithmetical functions. In addition, there are contributions which deal with other parts of number theory, such as Diophantine approximations, transcendental numbers and analytic number theory. Many contributions in this volume are from international experts in these fields. Also included are several papers from Lithuanian authors covering recent progress in the school of probabilistic number theory as founded by Jonas Kubilius.
