I'm interested in fabric repurposing, and bought this book after reading a review online referencing it positively. It's well written with good visuals and instructions.

This book was better than I expected as far as specific projects are concerned. In addition, it contains some good information on techniques and on sources for fabrics. It's filled with gorgeous full color photos brimming with ideas. I confess I'd never considered covering chair backs with men's ties or decoupaging a school locker with geometric prints! The last half of the book contains detailed instructions for projects shown in the first part of the book. A welcome addition to my collection!

What a FUN book. Sandy shows you how to take items, vintage fabrics, thrift store finds, vintage furniture, items you may not have thought of reusing, and shows you how to give them a fresh new look. She shows simple upholstery techniques, ideas for window treatments, several bag ideas, a cute pet bed. There are plenty of pictures and the illustrations (line drawn) are very helpful and clear. I love up cycling and this book has given me so many great ideas.

I have shelves of sewing books but this is one of my favorites in the recycling/repurposing genre. I like that it focuses on home dec and that the fabrics the author uses seem to be from around the 1950's and 60's. This is not a book about making new clothes from old ones but one that shows us we can use feed bags for pillow cases and trampoline canvas for window treatments. I refer to it periodically for inspiration. I am saving up silk scarves now to make the light and breezy looking curtains that incorporate scarves as horizontal stripes. I love the picture of the the author's workroom.

This book is very inspiring to me! I love to shop the flea markets and the book gives many wonderful ideas for reusing found items in innovative ways. You may never find what it takes to repeat the projects shown, but you will be inspired to reuse found items in unique ways!

This is a great book for people who love to craft and recycle. While it focuses on recycling things you can salvage from thrift shops, antique stores, sales and other venues, many of the projects can easily be tackled with materials you may already have in your own homes - things that are a little dated or that you haven't used for their intended purposes for a while.

I've done projects similar to some of those here but Fabric Remix has given me more ideas for crafting and making special things that will make my home unique and my gifts different from store-bought products.

The book is laid out unconventionally. Stone begins with chapters on finding inspiration, gathering materials and a tour of her home to see how the repurposed objects can fit right into a home. Then there is a gallery of the projects, after which comes the section of instructions for the projects. At the end, there is a short chapter on tools and techniques.

Among the 35 projects: embellished lanterns, scarf lampshade, canvas signage satchel, wire basket embellished with measuring tape, doggie bed, headboard, chair back upholstered with ties and my favorite, a zipper tapestry.

This is a great book for the eclectic, creative person who enjoys shopping at thrift shops, flea markets and yard sales for anything that can be repurposed into something artful and useful for the home, whether it be turning old coats into a comfy throw, making a tote bag out of old curtains and clothing, or using a canvas sign for reupholstering metal chairs.

Most people like the idea of repurposing but lack the energy to hunt down the vintage fabrics, clothing and old furniture that can be transformed from trash to treasure. For those who do have the dedication and an eye for the potential behind a seemingly unuseable item, and who like the retro look for home decor, this is a good book of ideas to inspire that kind of creativity.

The book includes instructions for making many of the projects the author presents, as well as advice on what to look for in vintage fabrics or furniture and suggestions for where to find them.
