I've been feeling a bit nostalgic for the young adult novels of my actual young adulthood. I'm from a very lucky generation who grew up with the YA genre, so was never lacking in reading options throughout my teenage years. And as an Australian, I really had a superior reading list to choose from - among the first YA novels I read were those by Melina Marchetta, Nick Earls, Margo Lanagan, Jaclyn Moriarty and the wonderful John Marsden.

Young Adult, 3 hrs.,. .Winter learned at a young age that sometimes getting what you want can get ugly. Kate Hosking’s deep voice and fast pace make a challenging combination for listeners.

Winter learned at a young age that sometimes getting what you want can get ugly. Now 16, she demands to leave her indifferent legal guardians and return to her dead parents’ estate. As the only heir, she is driven to rebuild the neglected 600-acre Australian ranch. Both the story and Hosking’s characterizations are worth the effort. Bolinda Audio will continue to impress American listeners.
