In this case, the book is about the adventures and growth of a young orphan who gets involved with the Knights Templar, a Crusade to the Holy Land, and makes interesting friends and enemies along the way. It is the second book in a trilogy that is worth completing.
My grandson recommended the first book in this series, which I was glad to read and discuss with him. I found Trail of Fate to be even better. I would recommend this book to young adventurers, as well as their grandmothers. I read these Templar books to my kids (10 and 12 yrs old) at night before bedtime, and they love them. They are entertaining and exciting to them. It's also a good book to teach vocabulary as you read.

As a templar, young Tristan is entrusted to protect the Holy Grail. I absolutely love the Youngest Templar series by Michael P. Spradlin. Now, I have always been a fan of fantasy, which isn't the genre of this series, but it IS historical fiction that takes place during the time when swords ruled the I love a good, old-fashioned action adventure with a lot of cliffhangers. and Trail of Fate is chocked full of them. Even the ending of the book is a cliffhanger, which means readers will have to wait a year to find out how Tristan gets out of his next jam.
