This is one of our 2 yr old's favorites - a real classic in our house. She tells people she meets in the store that "Heedly pecked me in the eye, it did not bleed, I did not cry." and they look at us like we are from another planet. A great way to keep from having to engage in small talk at the checkout counter..... If you have one ounce of sarcasm, or enjoy hearing your kids say absurd things to strangers, buy the whole series and learn about Ivan, Keifer, and Marty Cohen, the Scottish cat too!

Heedly is another naughty pet from author Wendy Ann Gardner's past. He just can't help himself! This book has a funny premise and a lesson to kids about staring at others- well, namely Heedly the chicken. Written on a pre-school to kindergarten level, the story has a rhyming cadence that's easy to read and to read out loud. The illustrations are simple yet vivid and suit the content of the book. It's a funny book that's sure to delight children young & old.

i love the simplicity and fun banter of this book. it is a cutsie story about a curious chicken named Heedley who pecks the author in the eye!! i like the rhyming and the simple illustrations, and so does my young children. there is also a lesson about what to do the NEXT time a chicken stares at you with glee...
