Most of the dogs in this book came from the Humane Society for Seattle/King County, a nonprofit shelter in Washington State that also takes in cats, rabbits, birds, and other small animals. The 8 dogs described here are so lucky to have better lives than to be in a shelter or to be abused, neglected, and so on. I am an animal lover, and have never purchased a dog or cat, they have all been rescued, so for me, this book hit home. Be careful though, lol, you may want to jump in your car and head to your local shelter and save a dog's life.

It's a dog relay race. There are two teams of four dogs each. When the starter says go, the lead dog on each team races down the lane,jumping across four hurdles and triggers a ball box with its paw. That releases a tennis ball. She adopted him because her first dog, Casper died and if she waited for a dog, it would take a year and she could not manage and he looked strong enough to pull her up when she fell and she fell often. What did he learn? He learned how to help her undress and pull off her socks and toss them to her in her lap.
