Bryn Barnard's The Genius of Islam is an interesting illustration of how a civilization my adapt ideas and inventions . Muslims made the compass able to determine specific direction, and made it universal. If it was not for this contribution, we would not have our current use of today's GPS.

Bryn Barnard's The Genius of Islam is an interesting illustration of how a civilization my adapt ideas and inventions to serve its purposes. Yet, many of these adaptations were further built upon to influence the world today. Upon first glance, the book is attractively illustrated and appealing. The end papers are interesting in that the front is a close-up map of the Middle East where the back is a loose view of which includes much of Central Asia, Africa, Europe, and the Middle East.
