This is a coursebook aimed at years four and five of secondary schools which provides practice for students preparing for GCSE examinations. It covers and revises the basic structures of the language and can be used in a class situation or for self-study. Listening, reading and writing tasks are provided as well as practice in role-play. Dialogues and exercises are placed in a realistic context and form the basis of the grammar and functional language sections which are fully exploited through exercises developing relevant skill areas. There are revision units providing realistic listening tasks recorded on the accompanying cassette plus reading material and diagnostic tests to help isolate weak areas and to assess progress. Basic tenses and phrases are systematically revised throughout and at the back of the book there are answers for self-checking. Kate Beeching is the author of several books including "Basic French".
