Series: Wheeler Large Print Book Series. Although this series is about vampires (which is not something I would typically read about), this book is a twist on the creation of this standard vampire plot. What I found most interesting in this read is how the characters come across with their feelings and their desires. It’s a difficult story to put down. Like the author’s first book in this series, The Passage, I loved this book. I felt it just misses for a few reasons. Ms Robards kept me enthralled with this well-written series.

Joan Johnston is the New York Times and USA Today bestselling author of more than forty award-winning historical and contemporary romantic novels, including her Bitter Creek series featuring The Rivals, The Price, The Loner, The Texan, and The Cowboy. The plot line does not follow what was set up in previous books. I am ok with Kate and Wyatt... but the falling in/out of love was weak plot. I loath Holly. She was annoying and pathetic. I also do not care for Jack and Kate cheating on each other basically- false commitment and the blah, blah, blah justifications. This was not good. The 2 stars- ignoring jack, Kate and Wyatt story was ok and wished had been more about them.

The book started and ended differently then how I imagined when I was reading the series. Shattered told the story of Kate Grayhawk, who infatuation with Jack, who turned out not to be her fated one. ( Wyatt) The book took on a journey that was well worth the price I paid for the book.

I too was looking forward to Jack and Kate's story and for them to find their HEA. As I read the book I began to like Shaw. The author didn't really give Jack enough pages in the book for me to feel heartbroken when they didn't end up together. I found myself skipping pages about Jack and Holly so I could see how the Kate and Shaw were going to devlope their relationship. Should have waited to borrow this from the library instead of purchasing the kindle version.

I have never read a bad book by Joan Johnston, this book continues that trend. The Bitter Creek series is so full of believable characters that you barely need to start the next book to remember the new heroine's aunts, uncles, cousins and grandparents. I would love to go to their family reunion!

Right from the beginning, it seems that Mrs. Johnston must have had Shattered in mind as she wrote A Stranger's Game. Shattered, the newest edition in the Bitter Creek series, begins shortly after A Stranger's Game ends. The plot, however, leaves Breed and Grace alone, for the most part, and focuses on Kate and Jack.

Twists, turns and surprising events abound in Shattered, leaving the reader wondering what's coming next. I found myself reading, reading, and reading. And with each turn of the page, as they say, "the plot thickens". Mrs. Johnston does a fine job of introducing new characters to add interest, expand the scope of the story, and open the possibility for more novels to follow in this series. Relationships and history between the characters are explained as the story moves along, so that the reader who had not previously read A Stranger's Game would understand. As with many of Mrs. Johnston's books, the characters' physical and emotional relationships play a big part.

Shattered keeps the reader entertained and interested. I found it to be a very enjoyable read. If the Bitter Creek series is ever made into a television series, Shattered should definitely be included.

I've been following the Bitter Creek series since the beginning and while I did enjoy this story, especially the character of Wyatt Shaw, it seemed as if Joan Johnston just recycled Trace and Callie's story from "The Cowboy" (with a few tweaks here and there). Kate and Jack have been dancing around each other for years now, since 2005's "The Next Mrs. Blackthorne." "Shattered" promised to tell their story, and it did, just not quite in the way most readers might expect. The chemistry between Jack and Kate, and their ten-year history, felt heavily revised in order to pave way for new storylines. Old characters were mentioned in passing for the most part, though King Greyhawk makes an interesting appearance, and I found myself missing the formerly ubiquitous Blackthornes, Greyhawks, and Creeds. I'll be interested to see which characters will carry this series for the next few installments.

This book is the continuation of the previous book.It begins after a coma. The characters were complex and very human. The characters from previous books continue and the many plot lines are solved by the end of the book.
