As new, unread copy in dust jacket. Florida PI Harry Rice is hired by Eloise Loftus to recover her husband's stolen collection of antique firearms. Upon taking the case, Harry is immediately warned off the case by Wade Loftus. As Harry continues his investigation, he quickly learns that Wade had spent the day of the theft shacked up with a go-go girl named Lola; that he’d waited two days before reporting the theft, and that Wade pawned some of his guns weeks before they were supposedly stolen.

In his second book, following The Harry Chronicles, which won the 1995 PWA/St. Martin's First Private Eye Novel Contest, Allan Pedrazas brings back the wise-cracking Florida private eye Harry Rice in Angel's Cove. Harry is enjoying a state of semi-retirement and a moment of serenity as the owner of the tropical beachside pub the Sand Bar when a frantic phone call from his regular day bartender, Carla, interrupts his reverie. Carla's father's unexpected death has led her back to the small coastal town of Angel's Cove.

As Harry stalks the mean streets of Broward County trying out his endearingly gaudy patter (& had to be tough for herdiscovering that her husband had been playing pickup games in the Junior Miss League. She had just learned that fidelity was just another word for no one else to do''), he's threatened by a crimelord, slashed by the lord's beautiful sidekick, and assaulted by Wade Loftus. But does he back down? You bet he does.

With the income from his low-key beach pub, the Sand Bar, Harry Rice has room for discretion in the detective work he takes on. So he should have been a little more selective about taking Eloise Loftus's case - especially since Wade Loftus tried to fire Harry before Eloise even had a chance to hire him.It seems like a fairly simple job. The Loftuses' apartment was cleaned out by burglars, and while the insurance company has replaced nearly everything, they can't do much about the stolen collection of antique guns. Disregarding Wade Loftus's objections, Harry starts looking for the guns, only to realize that all is not what it seems. Simple theft segues into adultery, smuggling, and murder - with Harry perfectly positioned to take the blame.
