I did not realize when I started this book that it was the third in the five book Kings Croft Series. I have not read any other books by Christine Marion Fraser, who died in 2002, but this book stands alone as a good story. If readers strongly dislike reading dialect, they may be put off by this novel, but it is not hard to discern the meaning of certain Scottish colloquialisms and the dialect is not forced and adds to the realism of the story.
