Her Grace's Passion book.

I love Marion Chesney's Regency romances. Her intrigues lead from one perpetrator to another and one situation to another. I do wonder if there are any sequels featuring her friends who have been left in unhappy circumstances. These books are listed as being written by MC Beaton, but they were released earlier under the name of Marion Chesney ( another pen name). I got confused with the author and the title. I thought they were new.

Matilda's cruel husband, romanced his mistress under her nose.

Matilda, Duchess of Hadshire, was the virtual prisoner of a cruel husband who romanced his mistress under her nose. Marion Chesney is a marvel for her literary talent in writing amazingly funny and wonderfully tragically stories about historical lives in her novels. Charming supporting characters. Published by Thriftbooks. Matilda's cruel husband, romanced his mistress under her nose. He subsequently was killed and by all rights she should have been a merry widow.

She wrote much under the name Marion Chesney, and there is rarely one that is disappointing. I picked this story because the author's style of storytelling matches my reading interest level. An easy story for an easy read.

Rosalind understood her passion to some extent: she had encouraged Grace to grow plants in a small hothouse that had been built in their garden. Very often Rosalind would compliment Grace; she loved the feel of her sister’s hair. The problem with city living was the gardens were relatively small, so Grace had been limited in what she could do. The garden had to provide space that her mother could take the air in on the few times she ventured outside. It was a rich auburn colour; Rosalind would complain that hers was just black, whereas Grace’s reflected the light beautifully. I think it is the reason you spend so much time out of doors, Rosalind would tease.
