This called for an emergency dinner at Quentins. I really and truly thought he cared, how could I have been so taken in, so humiliated?" she wept to Deirdre and Ella when they settled at their table. It was meant to be an Early Bird dinner, where people came in at six-thirty and left by eight.

With Quentins, Maeve Binchy follows her bestselling Scarlet Feather with a new book that delivers the hallmark storytelling that has kept millions of her readers happy for more than twenty years. I’ve read other Maeve Binchy books and enjoyed them, so I kept giving this book chances to redeem itself; it never did. This book is centered on the upscale restaurant, Quentins. This is sort of an inside look. The book, in typical Binchy form. We see this place, and many of the people, in other books by the author. has many chapters that give us insight into different characters. While the overarcing theme is about Quentins and making a movie about it, the book is comprised of many short stories of the people of Quentins. We learn how it got its name, Brenda and Patrick, the proprieters, have stories about them.

When Ella Brady was six she went to Quentins. It was the first time anyone had called her Madam.

Also by Maeve Binchy. Light a Penny Candle. Echoes London Transports. When Ella Brady was six she went to Quentins. A woman in a black dress with a lace collar had led them to the table.
