Praise for dorothea benton frank’s.

Praise for dorothea benton frank’s. The setting and the characters are blazingly authenti. rank evokes the eccentric Hamilton family and their feisty Gullah housekeeper with originality and conviction; Susan herself-smart, sarcastic, funny and endearingly flawed-makes a lively and memorable narrator. Thanks to these scrappily compelling portraits, this is a rich read.

Definitely recommend Dorothea Benton Frank for contemporary fiction. I had be thinking about reading a book by Dorothea Benton Frank for a long time and finally chose this one, which I loved. I just hope they aren't all so tragic. although she says she bases her books on her background.

I love Dorothea Benton Frank. She always writes wonderful stories with very strong women characters and Plantation is no exception. I have read several books by Dorothea Benton Frank that I have enjoyed very much. However, I did not like Plantation as much as the others. Millie is wonderful with her fiery personality and her Gullah dialect and her potions. The story is good, a grown daughter returning to South Carolina to care for her mother, however I never really connected with the daughter. She seemed to behave in ways that didn't seem in character. The descriptions of the Low Country of South Carolina are very well done.
