Mary Nichols writes a variety of books, I happen to like Regencies and she has written some very good ones. Quite a long book, some 370 pages in paperback and that is set in a fairly small typeface. Abandoned on the Lancashire moors as a child, Kate has known no other father than Josiah, the poacher who found her and brought her up as his own daughter. Kate is devoted to him, and for fifteen years she is happy living in their caravan, travelling the countryside, listening to Josiah's promises of a good marriage and a better life for her.

She was born in Goffstown, New Hampshire. At a young age, Nichols suffered from four miscarriages and a chronic illness. She became a woman's health care advocate and spread her message through lectures, clinics, and her writings.
