BREAK NO BONES is definately worth reading as it is a good mystery with good characters and lots of action. I believe this was supposed to be somewhat comic, but I just got the feeling that Kathy Reichs missed on this situation. Temperance Brennan is at it again, finding bones where they shouldn't be and then becoming a player in a pretty complicated plot. Anyway, neither Pete nor Ryan was much of a hero in this one.

From bestselling author Kathy Reichs a book set in Charleston, South Carolina, the center of a lucrative, clandestine, sophisticated trade in body parts, the kind that leaves the donor dead. Summoned to South Carolina to fill in for a negligent colleague, Tempe is stuck teaching a lackluster archaeology field school in the ruins of a Native American burial ground on the Charleston shore. Reichs, the inspiration for the hit Fox TV show Bones, is writing at the top of her form, and Tempe has never been more compelling.

In addition to technical books, Kathy Reichs has written eleven novels to date, which have been translated into 30. .

Her first novel, "Déjà Dead", won the 1997 Arthur Ellis Award for Best First Novel. The fictional heroine in her novels, Temperance "Tempe" Brennan, is also a forensic anthropologist.

It's the second-to-last day of archaeological field school - the students are working on a site of prehistoric graves on Dewees, a barrier island north of Charleston, South Carolina, when a much more recent burial is uncovered. The skeleton is articulated, the bone fresh and the vertebrae still connected by soft-tissue - it's a case forensic anthropologist Temperance Brennan has to take. But her investigations soon have her in too deep, her entire view of humanity challenged, and the further she probes, the more she seems to be putting herself in danger.
