Katie Stewart published a number of books, including The Sociable Cook, based on her column in Homes and Antiques magazine and The Pooh Cook Book, a work containing such headings as Smackerels and Elevenses, Provisions for Picnics and Expotitions to Hot Chocolate for a very Blusterous Day. After the marriage was dissolved she moved to Cuckfield in West Sussex where, in 2001, she was elected mayor of the village, a yearly honour given to a popular resident. She is survived by her son. Katie Stewart, born July 23 1934, died January 13 2013.
